I was born and raised in Southern Germany and spent half of my life in Europe and the other half living on the east coast of the United States, mainly in North Carolina. I spent most of my life as a child of the military and eventually became a spouse of the military. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textiles, as well as from the Art Institute of Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Management.
My decision to study visual arts stemmed from my love for it as well as the therapeutic affects it can have on us as individuals, mentally and emotionally. As a child of the military, having to move and start over more than many kids do in their youth, art was always there for me. It gave me an outlet and helped me to express and convey my feelings. As I got older, art was my outlet through dark and scary times that we often experience growing into adulthood. Because of this, I want to use my art to serve therapeutic purposes for others.
Being an Administrative Assistant here at Spring Forth has allowed me to really understand why I love the art and practice of therapy. Being able to spread positivity and contribute to the betterment of the community in some way, has been fulfilling. Watching Ms. Smith do what she does every day has been very inspiring to me. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something about ourselves and to grow. It is never too late to be a better version of ourselves for ourselves. Being at Spring Forth has really cemented this in my whole-being.
